The gründerkolleg Entrepreneurship Centre was founded at the beginning of 2000 as an initiative of the RWTH Aachen University, the local banks (Sparkassen) of Aachen and Heinsberg as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Aachen. Ever since it is part of the Start-up Region Aachen (GründerRegion Aachen) network. Since the middle of 2003 the gründerkolleg is affiliated to the chair “Economics for Engineers and Natural Scientists” (WIN) of the RWTH Aachen University held by Prof. Dr. Malte Brettel. The project is funded by third-party resources with the objective to create interest in entrepreneurship. The gründerkolleg is the primary contact within the University for persons interested in founding a business. Our goal is to use and expand the University’s entrepreneurial potential.
The chair “Economics for Engineers and Natural Scientists” (WIN) under the direction of Prof. Dr. Malte Brettel was established at the RWTH Aachen University in April 2003. Managerial knowledge is imparted especially to students of technical and scientific branches of study. Thus the chair fulfils an interface function between the faculties of the University and makes a crucial contribution to the integral education of the graduates.
